Today's #plein_air #painting

There's  this road near me that's closed for some reason and fenced off.  I walked down it today, and really liked how nature is eating at the sides of the  road, making the edges all uneven. It was a grey day, reducing the trees into simple geometric shapes.  Spent a couple very serene hours playing with this one:)

You couldn't ask for a nicer day for winter plein air. I found this great old abandoned house.  I love how the trees have grown around it on all sides.  I'll be revisiting this old place again I think:)

Found this little set of  falls in Bracebridge and had to paint it. Luna, my golden, had the time of her life, getting pet by every hiker that came by and stopped to chat.

I had such a great time at this event. It rained like crazy the entire time, which added a certain immediacy to getting the painting done:)
I was honored to be awarded second place.
Pictured below is our winner's circle of Ingrid Brooks,  myself, and Barbara Eguchi along with Deputy Mayor John Abel who braved the weather to support the event, and People's choice winner, Helen Walter
Thanks to the Aurora Cultural Centre, Aurora Farmer's Market, and OPAS for putting on this event.

I took part in the McMichael Art Gallery Plein Air Challenge. I've been to the gallery many times, but never explored the grounds. What a beautiful spot!
It was great getting to meet other artists. I found a wonderful old tree to paint, tucked away, off the trail.

Even found time to walk through the gallery:)
If you haven't been, i highly recommend it. Their collection of Group of Seven paintings, is astounding.

Got out for a quick sketch just outside of Bradford.
Loved the juxtaposition between the green and gold.
