"When I am painting, time stops for me. I strive to capture, in simplest terms, the experience of being in my subject’s presence."

Gilles received his post secondary Art diploma from The Art Centre, Toronto, in 1987, and continued his studies at the Ontario College of Art. He was privileged to have worked under the tutelage of artists Ed Bartram, and Richard McNeill. After graduation, Gilles taught at the Tempus Art Centre, before moving into a career in animation as a texture artist, where he has worked on several award winning shows.

Currently his primary focus is in plein air painting and portraits
